The recommendations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and of the Ministry of Health for constructions workers not to work at high temperatures just do not seem to apply for the “Skopje 2014” project.
Citizen journalist Vulnet Mahmuti sent us photos that show that the construction activities related to the “Panorama Wheel” and the so-called dry fountain on the Macedonia square are being carried out even at almost +40 degrees Celsius.
“One of the workers that I met on the site told me that he had to work in such scorching temperatures, because he has a family that is waiting for him to bring food”, says Mahmuti.
The labor inspectorate so far has not taken concrete steps to protect the workers from working at high temperatures.
The photos were prepared and submitted by our collaborator Vulnet Mahmuti on July 12, 2017.
