Smart, active and bold – that is the short description for the citizen journalists who this weekend attended the regional seminar in Struga.
The fourth regional seminar of CIVIL-Center for Freedom was held in Struga on 18 and 19 March, at which interested citizens from Struga, Ohrid, Debar and Kicevo took part.
Seminar participants had the opportunity to be introduced to the basics of human rights and freedoms, to video activism, citizen journalism and journalistic investigation.
On the second day of the seminar for citizen journalism, the participants had a workshop with a practical part on the streets of Struga where they recorded, took photos and discussed local problems, but also current topics in the context of the political crisis in Macedonia. The two-hour field work was followed by an evaluation of the recorded videos and photo materials.
Full with ideas, creative and fearless, the seminar participants made photo and video materials on the field by using the advantages of their mobile phones. Their stories will be published on CIVIL’s specialized website for citizen journalism, and the most successful ones on civil.media.mk.
“Civic Lenses” is a project that combines research, media activities and activism, which are the basis for long-term election observation. This project has been contributing to the development of citizen journalism in the country for the second year now.
