Candidates for mayor of Skopje on dealing with nationalism, respect for diversity, equitable representation and protection against discrimination

We asked candidates for mayor of the City of Skopje Arben Shaqiri from the coalition “Determined for change” of LDP and DOM, Ana Petrovska from Green Humane City and Petre Shilegov from the SDSM led coalition, how in the program for political and social action they will tackle nationalism and advocate for respect for multiculturalism and respect for diversity. We asked them to share specific information about their plans for implementing equitable representation in the institutions, practices for protection against discrimination in institutions, schools and in public space.

Other candidates for mayor of Skopje were also invited to answer these questions of CIVIL Media, but due to various reasons they were not able to respond to our invitation.

The debate is part of the project “Green society for all” that is implemented by the organizational unit of GREEN CIVIL, in partnership with the Heinrich Boll Foundation.

With the project “Green society for all”, CIVIL continues the promotion of ideas for interconnectedness of green values, antinationalism and social justice, particularly in the context of creating local policies and practices with real concern for the interests of the citizens at the local level.
