MURATOV: AS LONG AS THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE DRINKING WATER, I CANNOT SPEEK OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Dehran Muratov from CIVIL, at the opening of CIVIL Fest, reflected on a distressing story about the Romas from the Bitola neighborhood of Bair who do not have basic living conditions and whose everyday lives, among else, is a constant struggle for water.

Through the prism of this coverage, Muratov marked International Human Rights Day and the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with the conclusion that in Macedonia we are far from talking precisely about the fundamental rights of people.

“Human rights day should be every day, and not just today’s Human Rights Day. I will go back to the story we did about the Roma in Bitola who do not have water. And when we need to talk about human rights, I first think about the right to water…That is why I don’t know what kind of human rights to talk about when those people don’t have the basic human right to water”, stated Dehran Muratov from CIVIL.
